Arts4Kids January 2008 Workshop
"The Art of Strengthening Mind and Body, While Honoring Society", An Introduction to TaeKwonDo and the Martial Arts for Arts4Kids participants.

The Arts Council of Greater Kingsport along with Evers' TaeKwonDo Academy will offer a martial arts workshop for the Arts4Kids club on Saturday, January 19 from 1-2:30 p.m. The workshop will be located at the Kingsport Renaissance Center, Room 302. This workshop will focus on self-defense and character development (honor, courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self-control, courage, and community) which children can use to help them through every day situations. The workshop will be led by Brad Matherly, 3rd degree blackbelt and certified instructor for EversÌ TaeKwonDo Academy. This Arts4Kids workshop will also be held at VO Dobbins on Friday, January 18 from 4:15-5:45 p.m. as an outreach workshop for children ages 6-12 who live in that community.
Evers' TaeKwonDo Academy is a certified member of the International TaeKwonDo Alliance. The ITA pledges itself to contributing to the art of TaeKwonDo, providing leadership and instruction in an ancient discipline. Practitioners are taught to strengthen their mind and body and impact society through: Honor, Courtesy, Integrity, Perseverance, Self Control, Courage and Community. The Academy originated in Johnson City more than 11 years ago and is owned by Scott and Ruth Evers. The Kingsport location has been in existence for almost two years. The AcademyÌs instructors are actively involved in the community working closely with several non-profit organizations.
Arts4Kids, is an introductory arts club for children ages 6-12 presented by the Arts Council of Greater Kingsport. The program is designed to introduce children to a variety of arts and encourage their life-long pursuit of creative endeavors. The Arts4Kids program is funded under agreement with the Tennessee Arts Commission and National Endowment for the Arts, as well as, through generous support from the Kingsport Community Foundation (a fund of the East Tennessee Foundation), Eastman Chemical Co., AFG Industries, and the Cultural Arts Division of the City of Kingsport.
