Arts4Kids Summer Camp 2008

The Arts4Kids Summer Arts Camp, June 9-13, 2008, is a day camp for students interested in the arts. It is presented by the Arts Council of Greater Kingsport and will be held at the Kingsport Renaissance Center.

9 AM - 3 PM: Rising 1-8 graders
Students will explore the arts each day through a variety of hands-on sessions including: theatre (programming developed and taught by Kingsport Theatre Guild instructors), music & movement (sessions developed in collaboration with Symphony of the Mountains), 2-D and 3-D visual arts, and book arts. The camp instruction is designed to encourage and develop creative thought and expression.
This camp is limited to 40 students (campers will be divided into two, age-appropriate groups).

9 AM - Noon: 4-6 year olds
Children will explore music & movement of various cultures through a Kindermusik curriculum called “Around the World”, taught by Jane Morison. Participants also will enjoy exploring music, theatre, dance and the visual arts through mini sessions with the Art Council’s affiliates such as Symphony of the Mountains and the Kingsport Theatre Guild.
This camp is limited to 15 students.

Camp Fees:
Day Camp (9 AM - 3 PM, grades 1-8): $135/child
Half Day Camp (9 AM - Noon, ages 4-6): $95/child
Discounts:
A $20 discount will be given to families with more than one child registered for the camp.
A $10 discount will be given to each camper who signs up for the Arts4Kids 2008-09 club.

Applications are available as a downloadable form or can be picked up at the Arts Council Office (Kingsport Renaissance Center, Room 216).

Campers should wear comfortable and appropriate clothing for art projects. They must wear sneakers or closed-toe shoes/sandals. Full-day campers should bring a bag lunch and water bottle each day LABELED WITH HIS/HER NAME. A healthy snack will be provided to the half-day campers. While the Camp is designed to be a fun and creative learning opportunity, it is important that campers respect the time and talents of the instructors and fellow campers.
